Our History
In 2000, Elementis plc grouped together the former businesses of Rheox (market leader in rheological additives with products such as BENTONE®, BENTONE GEL®, THIXCIN®, THIXATROL®, M-P-A®, RHEOLATE® and Daniel Products into one, resulting in Elementis Specialties. As the premier producer of rheological additives, Elementis Specialties was the first to introduce organoclays and wax based anti-settling agents.
In 2004 the acquisition of Servo added a wide range of capabilities and products for surfactant and dispersing & wetting agents to our portfolio. A wide range of surfactant technologies (ethylene/propylene oxide derivatives, phosphate esters, sulphosuccinates, sulphates, sulphonates), including our world leading NUOSPERSE® dispersing agents which serve to provide optimum color development in coatings and inks. Elementis Specialties offers multiple colorant lines (TINT-AYD®) for decorative and industrial coatings.
The acquisition in 2008 of Deuchem, an Asia Pacific based company, added a comprehensive range of specialty additives under the brand names of DeuRheo, Disponer, Defom, Levaslip, Adherant and DeuAdd.
The acquisition in 2008 of the Yuhong organoclay business, located in China, further strengthened the capacity and capabilities for organoclay rheology modifiers.
